The Down Syndrome Network of West Virginia and Down With That would like to invite you to participate in its 11th Annual Buddy Walk being held on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the West Virginia State Capitol Complex, Charleston, West Virginia. (10am)
The Buddy Walk is an event originated by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. Over 300 walks are being planned for 2012 across the country. The Buddy Walk is a walk in which anyone can participate without special training. It is a wonderful, heart-warming event that celebrates the many abilities and accomplishments of people with Down Syndrome. Participants also enjoy a day filled with entertainment, food and activities for all ages and abilities. This is our group’s largest fundraiser which allows us to continue to provide information, resources and support to families and professionals. We had over 700 participants at last year’s walk, and expect our numbers to grow.
